I’ve started Carolina Pinball Repair as my clientele list has grown to have a direct page with more information on my pricing, service specialties, etc. Please visit Abari next time you’re in Charlotte! So, I listed my information on and have been doing in-home repairs as well as repairing machines brought to me for several years now.īeginning in the summer of 2016, I took a full-time position as the Head Technician at Abari Game Bar in Charlotte where I service their 20 pinball machines and 30+ arcade games. With pinball repair being a bit of a dying art, I decided to start repairing games for others. It got to where repairing machines was as much fun to me as playing them, and soon I had other hobbyists asking me for my advice on their games and various issues. The more machines I got, the more games I learned to repair. Having been long interested in hobby electronics and the process of electro-mechanical devices, I took to learning pinball repair to service my personal machines. There’s an old adage that, “If it ain’t broke, it ain’t pinball.” So, naturally, as my personal game room collection grew, the need for repair/maintenance knowledge increased.

My first pin was a 1992 Doctor Who which I still have in my personal game room. Every pizza parlor, ice cream shop, bowling alley or bar I go in, if I see a pinball machine, I have to put some money into it and play a few games.Īs pinball began to dry up on location, I got into the hobby of collecting machines. Being a product of the 1980s, gaming is in my blood however, at the local arcades growing up, while many of my contemporaries were playing the latest arcade side scrollers or fighting games, I gravitated to the corner with the large machines with flashing lights and silver balls.įrom the first time I put two quarters into a pinball machine, I was hooked.

*** Beware of the self-proclaimed expert who walks in your home without a meter, and only a screw driver and pliers in his hands! If he does not use a meter (or other pertinent electronics testing equipment) to inspect your game, then he has no electronics knowledge and should NOT be touching your game.My name is Matthew and I have been playing pinball machines since I was about seven or eight-years-old. Now that you understand the principles from which we operate, you can feel safe and secure in the knowledge that we will get the job done, and will do everything possible to save you money in the process! We believe that if a person does not truly know electronics, they have no business "repairing" someone's game. We have indepth knowledge of electronics. Our aim is always to fix it by narrowing it down to a particular component and replacing it. Replacing a component is a lot less expensive for the customer than replacing the board or monitor! In layman's terms, we are not "board pullers" or "wire wigglers". We will only replace the board or monitor as a last resort. If your game is not working properly, we will determine if the problem is in the wiring, the board or the monitor. We know every chip and transistor on a CPU/MPU board and what they each do to create the game that you enjoy playing.

We know every wire in an arcade and pinball and what they each do to make a game operate to its full potential. We know every component in a monitor and what they each do to make a monitor light up. To know the product, you should understand the inner workings in other words, how it is made and what makes it work.

We believe that one should not be in the repair business unless they truly know the product they are servicing. We feel that our definition of "repair" also defines us as a company. We specialize in video arcade and pinball repair.

We are a family-owned business that takes pride in what we do. We are known for our honesty, knowledge and good business practices. K & M Amusements is one of the most reputable arcade repair companies in Kansas City.
